Richard K. Van Evera was born in Hinsdale, Illinois. He received his B.A. in History and Political Science and was commissioned an Officer of the United States Air Force at Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1970. He served on active duty until 1974 and attended law school from 1975 to 1978 when he began his career with the firm. He and his wife, Marcia, have two children, Nikolaus and Courtney.

Mr. Van Evera has been with the firm since 1978. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Illinois. He represents businesses, insurance companies, and individuals in civil litigation matters involving injuries and damages caused by dangerous products, motor vehicle accidents, hazards and defects relating to buildings, property, and construction sites, and matters involving insurance coverage, employment disputes and workers’ compensation.
He has been successful in obtaining millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts for his injured and damaged clients. He has also successfully defended many cases in which damages in the millions of dollars are claimed.
Mr. Van Evera has been recognized as a leading lawyer by the Leading Lawyers Network, a service that rates lawyers through peer reviews, serves on the Leading Lawyer Network Advisory Board, and has been given the highest ranking for legal ability and ethical standards by the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, a nationwide directory which has published peer reviewed ratings of lawyers’ legal ability and ethical standards for over 100 years.
