Mr. Burke was born and raised in McHenry, Illinois. In his spare time, he enjoys relaxing with family and friends, traveling, reading, and attending sporting events.

Darron M. Burke joined Barrick, Switzer, Long, Balsley & Van Evera, LLP in 2014 and became a partner in 2022. His areas of practice include bankruptcy, civil litigation, municipal law, estate planning, and business law. Darron is proud to represent a wide variety of clients, ranging from individuals and families to businesses and public entities. Darron grew up in McHenry, Illinois and completed his undergraduate education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He subsequently obtained his Juris Doctor from the New England School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts.
Darron’s practice began with a focus in consumer Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy representation which has since evolved to also include representation of individuals, businesses, and creditors in complex Chapter 11/Subchapter V proceedings as well as family farmers and creditors in Chapter 12 cases, many of which are referred to him by other attorneys and law firms in the region. His practice is also focused heavily on municipal law, where he serves as both corporate counsel and litigation counsel for municipal clients. Darron has experience litigating a variety of matters on behalf of public entities, including eminent domain proceedings, jurisdictional disputes, injunctive relief matters, and ordinance violation proceedings.
Darron is also privileged to represent both individuals and families in a number of capacities, including in estate planning, probate, and adult guardianship matters, as well as to represent a variety of businesses, assisting in anything from business formation or dissolution to general litigation and collection matters.
Darron has been recognized for his legal accomplishments by Leading Lawyers as an Emerging Lawyer in 2019, 2020, and 2021 (awarded to the top 2% of lawyers in Illinois under 40 years old based upon a survey of his peers). Additionally, Darron has been an invited speaker at legal seminars for the Winnebago County Bar Association, McHenry County Bar Association, and the Chicago Bar Association, and has authored multiple legal articles which have been published in the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal. He is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Winnebago County Bar Association, where he has twice been selected to be the Chair of the Bankruptcy Committee.
When he is not practicing law, Mr. Burke enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and going to concerts.
