Mohit Khare

Mohit Khare obtained his B.A. in Economics from the University of Illinois-Chicago in 2006.  After college, Mohit worked as an accountant for Aon for a year, gaining valuable financial experience.  He then went to Northern Illinois University Law School and obtained his J.D. in 2010. While in law school, Mohit worked at two law firms, one focusing on personal injury and the other on workers’ compensation claims.

After law school, Mohit joined the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office, where he worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney for 5 years.  Mohit litigated over 25 jury trials, and over a 100 bench trials and motions while at the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office.  His trials include DUIs, misdemeanors, and felonies such as armed robberies, gun offenses, violent crimes, and murders.  He also worked with police departments in reviewing and charging cases, and regularly presented cases to the grand jury.

Mohit joined an insurance defense firm in August of 2016, concentrating his practice on workers’ compensation, business and commercial, civil rights actions, and general civil litigation.  During this time, Mohit successfully argued numerous substantive motions.  Mohit then joined Barrick, Switzer, Long, Balsley & Van Evera, LLP, in May of 2018 where he is currently a Partner and focuses his practice in personal injury, workers’ compensation, employment and commercial litigation, general civil litigation, and criminal defense.

Mohit has also presented and spoken at seminars regarding a multitude of legal issues, including the admissibility of Facebook evidence at trial, appealing to jurors, the use of current technology in trials, and current updates regarding new case law and legislation.
