Chris’ practice focuses on all aspects of real estate transactions and business and corporate work. He has practiced law here in Rockford for over 15 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his representation of individuals, families, businesses, financial institutions, non-profit and community organizations and condominium and homeowners associations.
Chris specializes in commercial, residential, industrial and agricultural real estate transactions and has extensive experience with complex and sophisticated purchases, sales, leases and tax-deferred exchanges. He assists clients in all phases of purchase and sale transactions from contract to closing, including negotiation and drafting of documents, due diligence review, analysis and resolution of any title issues, review and negotiation of financing documents, and preparation and review of final closing documents. Chris represents clients in Rockford and throughout northern Illinois in the negotiation and preparation of leases for retail, agricultural, industrial and commercial properties. He works with property owners and developers in connection with zoning, variance and annexation petitions.
He also concentrates his practice on business, corporate and banking issues and represents numerous owners, companies and financial institutions. He works with businesses on a vast array of matters ranging from formation and dissolution, asset purchase and sale transactions, shareholder buy-sell agreements, transfers and sales of stock and ownership interests, as well as internal annual corporate governance matters.
Chris routinely represents local banks and financial institutions and assists them with a diverse range of issues, including preparation and review of loan documents, modification of existing loans and credit facilities and disposition of bank-owned real estate.
He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated from the University of Iowa with highest distinction (B.A., 2000). He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2003, where he was an Articles Editor for the Journal of Corporation Law. Chris is licensed to practice law in Illinois and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
When not practicing law, Chris’ time is devoted to enjoying life with his wife and family. He is an avid runner and enjoys participating in races and half marathons both locally and throughout the nation.
