Mr. Van Evera practices in the field of civil litigation. His areas of concentration and expertise involve the areas of product liability, personal injury, employment discrimination, vehicular collision, premises liability, construction liability, workers' compensation, and insurance coverage issues. His practice is both plaintiffs and defense work at the trial and at the appellate level in state and federal courts.

Personal:

Richard K. Van Evera was born in Hinsdale, Illinois, May 1, 1948. He received his B.A. in History and Political Science at Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1970. Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in 1970, Attorney Van Evera served on active duty from 1970 to 1974 including one tour in Southeast Asia and left active duty as a captain. In August of 1978 he began his career with the firm. He and his wife, Marcia Orwig, have two children: Nikolaus, age 20, and Courtney, age 16.
