My favorite part about being an attorney is finding out exactly what a business or individual needs, and fashioning solutions that fit those needs while also tailoring to individual personalities and financial situations.
Scott R. Hall
Scott Hall is an associate at Barrick, Switzer, Long, Balsley & Van Evera, LLP, joining the firm as a law clerk in August of 2017 and starting as an associate attorney in November of 2017 after passing the bar exam. He practices law generally with the firm, dealing in business law, insurance law, family law, and other areas as well.
During his time in law school, Scott completed an externship with the Honorable J. Edward Prochaska, Circuit Judge of the 17th Judicial Circuit of Illinois. He was Managing Editor of the Northern Illinois University Law Review, and Associate Justice of the Moot Court Society. He also served as a research assistant to Professor Heidi Frostestad Kuehl researching foreign corruption and violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Scott further served for a summer as a research assistant to Professor Emeritus Jeffrey Parness, assisting with proofreading family law publications concerning adoption, putative fatherhood, and other family law related issues. In his final two years of law school, Scott worked as a circulation worker at the law library, and later as a research and reference desk assistant, where he assisted students, professors, and patrons with legal research.
As an undergraduate, Scott studied linguistics and foreign language, with a specialization in auditory and acoustic phonetics. Scott studied Hindi, Sanskrit, French, and German, as well as linguistic topics such as syntax, semantics, psycholinguistics, and the sociological aspects of language. Scott speaks Spanish from a family background, and can converse in French and German as well. In addition, Scott earned his Associate of Arts degree focusing on literature and foreign language.
In his free time, Scott likes to watch movies, read, study foreign language, and play disc golf.
